Fahrenheit
One of the commonly used temperature scales that measures the intensity of heat. In Fahrenheit, water freezes at 32 degrees and boils at 212 degrees. When expressing temperatures in Fahrenheit, it is common to add an F after the number, such as 212F.
The temperature scale is usually shown after the number so that the number or temperature is not confused with other temperature scales, such as Celcius or Centigrade. These are also a very common temperature scales. When using these other scales, it is common to follow the number with a C. As an example, water boils at 100C.
Also understand you can convert tempeartures between the two scales, Celcius and Fahrenheit. To convert a temperature from Celcius to Fahrenheit, start by multiplying the Celcius temperature by 9. Divide that answer by 5 and then add 32. That will provide the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit.
As an example, start with 100C. Multiply by 9 equals 900. Divide 900 by 5 equals 180. Add 32 and your answer is 212 degrees Fahrenheit, which is the temperature water boils at. That is, 212F or 100C.
